Jump Rope for Heart is the primary school skipping challenge that turns kids into Heart Heroes — everyday superheroes who are leading the way in the fight against heart disease. As well as moving more and having fun, our Heart Heroes raise funds that have the power to help save hearts in Australia — including their own.
That’s because three out of four primary school-aged kids don’t meet physical activity guidelines, leaving them at greater risk of heart disease as adults. Jump Rope for Heart helps get kids excited about exercise and eating well, encouraging them to form heart-healthy habits that can last a lifetime. What’s more, by seeking donations for their skipping achievements, our Heart Heroes raise money to help fund life-saving research and can see firsthand how their actions can make a difference to the lives — and hearts — of others.

The School Magazine began in 1916, when the NSW Department of Education launched a literary magazine to enrich the reading lives of primary school children. More than a century later, it remains a trusted classroom companion, supporting teachers with high-quality texts and curriculum-aligned learning resources that make teaching English both engaging and manageable.
Across four age-levelled magazines – Countdown, Blast Off, Orbit, and Touchdown – teachers receive 10 issues of each title every year. Every issue offers a rich mix of stories, poems, plays, articles, persuasive texts, cartoons and comic serials designed to spark curiosity and nurture a lifelong love of reading.
To support classroom implementation, a subscription includes access to a comprehensive suite of curriculum-aligned resources developed by qualified educators and linked to both the NSW English K–10 Syllabus and the Australian Curriculum: English. These include lesson plans with learning intentions and success criteria, worksheets that build key language and literacy skills, assessment rubrics, textual concept videos, and termly scope and sequences to streamline planning.
For digital subscribers, interactive comprehension tasks allow students to demonstrate understanding in meaningful ways and can be assigned and tracked through the digital classroom platform. Teachers can filter texts by syllabus outcome, assign readings, monitor student progress and integrate literary learning seamlessly into their weekly program.
With a heritage built on quality literature and a modern focus on practical classroom support, The School Magazine helps teachers create joyful, literacy-rich learning environments – reducing planning time, supporting syllabus implementation and inspiring confident, enthusiastic readers.
